Are the regular camps happening?
Due to the unpredictability of the COVID-19 virus and current state guidelines, Millikin University and Heidelberg University have cancelled large summer camp events for one more year.  

SCA Virtual 2021

Is there still a way to enjoy SCA this summer?
Yes! Our SCA Virtual 2021 camp experience will take place July 11 – 16. 

 

How do I register for SCA Virtual 2021?
Click on the “Registration” tab at the top of this page.

 

Why is my email important?
It's important that every attendee has a unique and valid email address. This will be used to send attendees links to access the virtual camp. Attendees will not be able to access the sessions without a valid email address. If your school district regularly blocks emails, we highly recommend using personal email addresses (like Gmail). Again, it is critical if you're registering multiple people that you include their actual email addresses in the participant email section to ensure they can access the sessions.

 

What if I have a conflict at some point during the week?
A recording of the live sessions will be available once they are completed so you can access anything that you miss during the day. This allows flexibility to make the daily schedule work for you! Choose to participate in as many or as few activities as you wish each day/evening.

 

What if I need to cancel?
If for any reason you need to cancel, please contact our office immediately by email at info@showchoircamps.com or phone (630)663-4500. Cancellation prior to June 1 will receive a full refund. There are no refunds after June 1.

 

How will I know what to do?
Don’t worry! We will send you full instructions on how to access the camp, along with a schedule and everything you need to know. 

 

What kind of equipment do I need?
Participants require High Speed Internet and a Phone with iOS or Android or a computer, laptop or tablet.

 

Will I need to appear on camera?
You will be able to enjoy all aspects of SCA Virtual without appearing on camera or video.

 

Will I need to download apps to participate?
You will need Zoom for rehearsals and presentations. We will use the app BAND as our communication and access platform. We will send you a unique link to join our SCA 2021 BAND after you have completed your registration.

 

How will I access the rehearsals and workshops?
You will receive information prior to camp week with full instructions.

 

Are there any additional fees?
In order to have the music for the “Camp Show” you will be responsible for purchasing and downloading your own digital copies from JW Pepper. The approximate cost will be $15.  As we get close to camp, you will receive a link that will easily take you to a page on the Pepper site that will have all of the materials needed.

 

Can I use more than one device?
Participants can only be signed in with their email on 1 computer, 1 phone or 1 tablet.  If someone logs in on a 2nd phone, the first phone would be logged out. The same for all of your devices.

 

Can I reach someone at SCA if I am having a problem?
Yes!  We will send you numbers and email addresses so you can reach us by phone, text,  email or by using BAND.  

 

Are there any scholarships available?
Showchoir Camps of America awards scholarships at a variety of show choir competitions throughout the country. Any of those awarded this year will be honored for SCA Virtual 2021. Additionally, many of our campers in the past have also been successful gaining personal scholarship and sponsorship funding through school booster clubs and parent organizations, school administration, and local civic groups or arts associations (such as Jaycees, Lions Club, City Arts Council, Rotary Club, etc). Organizations such as these will often allocate scholarship funds to aid local students in attending programs and camps that promote fine arts or academic education.

 

Will there be an orientation?
There will be an orientation on Sunday evening. We will go over the schedule, give instructions on accessing all of the events, introduce clinicians and rehearse How Do We Say Goodbye. It will also be your opportunity to make sure you have everything technically working properly for the week.

 

Test your tech!
We will have a couple of evenings the week before camp that you can test your access to make sure your internet and tech is working properly.   

 

Will there be a Student Talent Showcase?
Yes, there will be a Student Talent Showcase.  You will receive instructions on where to send your audition video as we get closer to camp.  It will need to be a live performance that you recorded.  You can accompany yourself, have an accompanist, or use a track.  It may not be from a previous performance or competition.  The top performances will be selected for the Student Talent Showcase.  Millikin University and Heidelberg University will both be awarding talent scholarships to outstanding performers.

 

I am a teacher. Can I earn CEU’s or Graduate Credit?
Yes!  Both are being offered through Heidelberg University.
You can earn up to 5 CEU’s for $50 total and up to 3 hours of Graduate Credit for $350 per hour.   You will receive instructions on how you can register directly with Heidelberg University.
